Mostly because they are generally posting current programs from US
television,  and posting it with an alphabet soup title (and most
often with a password), and posting it in an off-topic group is a
means for the "in crowd" (the uploader's clique) to get the file
without it being easily detected by the Copyright thugs and deleted by
legal request to Usenet providers. This has been going on for several
years, in numerous Groups. Just delete the crap and pretend you never
saw it. It's almost certainly off-topic anyway.
