LOOKING FOR ALICE....1994
R4, 26 Feb1994, 7.50pm; Saturday Night Theatre. With John Fillingham, Melanie Thaw, Malcolm Raeburn. An excellent thriller; an escaped prisoner breaks into an isolated house where live three seemingly ordinary people...an elderly Ukrainian, his wife and their strangely childlike daughter. The prisoner thinks he has found a safe haven, but he is in more danger than he realises. The play has superb use of sound effects, which are dramatic and powerful. David Ryall gives a stunning performance as the old man; a portrait of barbarity barely under control and ferocity un-dimmed by age. There is a surprise twist and a grisly resolution...it stars Bridget Forsyth as Greta, David Ryall as Albert, John Lloyd Fillingham as the prisoner, Malanie Thaw as Miranda, James McMartin as Hoopoe, Daphne Oxonford as Dorothy, Malcolm Rayburn as Inspector Pope, Fiona Kerr as Alice. Directed in Manchester by Michael Fox.
