I can think of a few reasons.
Legal
As the departure of one of the oldest and most appreciated members of
this group proved, there is a more vigilant attitude of the BBC towards
groups of this nature. Naturally more members became apprehensive in
posting here. No one wants to be prosecuted for what basically is a
harmless hobby.
Saturation
Perhaps the need for audio/radio has been met for some, or is currently
better met by other media (torrents). Also newer radiolovers might be
more proficient with download software like get_Iplayer and such. Also
there's the proliferance of podcasts.
Tit For Tat
There used to be a time when this group was an honest and mutual
exchange of old and new (both OF content and BETWEEN members). Nowadays
it's a lot of asks mostly met by a few stalwarts, and few spontaneous
offerings. Especially when the group of Askers seldomly offers something
new, or even old, in return, the enthusiasm of the few offering content
is stretched to exhaustion.
Well, that's just my ha'penny's worth.
