DESCRIPTION
==================
"Tangential glimpses remotely echoed, untethered from touch. No time nor place, no past nor future, internal, external. Sculpting from energy, clouded motion vaguely slipping. Evanescent vibration, without meaning apart from its own open secret".
These phrases -taken from the press sheet- describe and depict the sonic content and meaning of the new album "Zerkalo", a collaboration between the St. Peterburg-based musician Andrey Sadovnikov aka Faryus and ambient/glurp master Robert Rich.
The album as a whole, of which the title means mirror in Russian, pays homage to film of Andrey Tarkovky. As stated by Robert Rich, the deep drone ambient textures and dense atmospheres, presented in six uninterrupted parts, venture in similar sonic territory as explored on Rich's release "Below Zero" or Robert's collaborative album "Stalker".
The slow morphing ambient textures indeed have a stark forboding and dark character, occasionally even slightly menacing and spooky, but never too unpleasant.
The album is released as a limited edition of only 1000 copies and comes packaged with four color cards in a gatefold and sealed clear envelope. - Bert Strolenberg
