GENERAL INFORMATION
=====================
Album: Heaven-to-Hell
Artist: Software
Year: 1995
Genre: New Age / Electronic / Berlin-School
DESCRIPTION
==================
Composed by Peter Mergener and Michael Weisser and played and mixed by Peter Mergener, 'Heaven to Hell' is Software in classical/spiritual mode. The opening title track is a strident theme and the heavenly choirs are much in evidence as well as the occasional demons and tormented soul as in 'Devil to Love'. Inevitably one mentions Enigma when tolling bells and chanting monks are featured but the Vangelis album 'Heaven and Hell' also springs to mind even if the styles are different the concept is familiar. Like Vangelis, Software are no slouches when it comes to knocking together a few good tunes and the atmosphere is maintained successfully throughout the set. In places it sounds like an alternative soundtrack to the Exorcist but it certainly achieves its aims. Classy and worth investigating. Stock up on candles and holy water. (Steve Roberts)
