Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd - Mysterious Skin.nfo
GENERAL INFORMATION
=====================
Album: Mysterious Skin (Music From The Film)
Artist: Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd
Year: 2005
Genre: New Age / Electronic / Stage & Screen / Soundtrack / Ambient
DESCRIPTION
==================
Twenty years ago, at the peak of their career, the members of the Cocteau Twins teamed up with the ambient composer Harold Budd to produce 'The Moon And The Melodies'. A work of watery of elegance, it was the equal of their sophomore album from the same year, 'Victorialand'. Now Guthrie and Budd have joined together to soundtrack the work for 'Mysterious Skin'; an independent film which deals with childhood trauma and sexual awakening. Although hardly light subject matter, the music possesses an innocent, untouched quality which sounds very similar to their previous collaboration. More crucially, this is not incidental music, with each instrumental piece serving up its own atmosphere, particularly beautifully on 'Snowfall'. A few will criticise that their music hasn't moved on in two decades but when the results are this poignant, who cares?
Mysterious Skin remains one of the most effective electronic soundtracks of the last decade.
