Carbon Based Lifeforms - Twentythree.txt
GENERAL INFORMATION
=====================
Album: Twentythree
Artist: Carbon Based Lifeforms
Year: 2011 (this is the 2015 reissue)
Genre: New Age / Electronic / Ambient
DESCRIPTION
==================
I've been listening to this album in loop mode for several days now, and it works well on the two levels deep ambient should: as Eno-style environment background soundscape, or as an entraining work you can dive deeply into in an active listening mode. The first track, Aricebo, is the best and could be looped indefinitely on its own. (I'd love to have a 30 to 60 minute long version of it.) Some other tracks have subtle voice or natural sounds blended into the mix that I was afraid would be too intrusive into this ambient continuum, but they are just under the threshold of annoyance for me.
As someone who has created this kind of music, I can attest that it is much harder than it may seem to make tracks as rich and yet so deceptively smooth and subtle as this album is.
I would recommend this to any lover of deep-space or meditative ambient.
