Quicksand was a post-hardcore band from New York City
and, retrospectively, one of the most influential rock
acts of that era, and was led by former Gorilla Biscuits
guitarist Walter Schreifels. The creative blueprint that
Quicksand provided can still be heard in current hard
rock trends.
The band released two widely-acclaimed albums in Slip and
Manic Compression before disbanding in 1995. In 1997,
Quicksand reunited and embarked on a successful tour in
1998 with Deftones. Towards the end of the year, they
entered Carriage House Studios in nearby Stamford,
Connecticut to begin work on a follow-up to Manic
Compression, but tensions within the band caused them to
split up for good.
Slip is the title of Quicksand's debut album which was
released on February 9, 1993.
