There's no stopping Nils Frahm. This
latest project has its' origins in his
Hamburg school days, when the acclaimed
pianist would spend many happy nights
              making experimental jams with friends
Frederic Gmeiner and Sepp Singwald. The
Gamble, the trio's debut album, has
therefore been a long time coming.
              Mixing dreamy electronics, smoky beats,
              manipulated tape recordings and Frahm's
              trademark keys-work - think Rhodes,
Clavinet and piano - the album sits
somewhere between the hazy late night
              jazz of The Cinematic Orchestra,
              classic ambient, IDM and bustling
trip-hop. It is, as you'd expect from a
talent such as Frahm, an impeccably
              produced and hugely atmospheric
              journey.
