'Mercy Street' definitively installed the style and touch for A
Reminiscent Drive. The famous A.R.D. touch; this bareness, the
construction of nuances, practically pointillist, the sonorities,
and this way of working the layers. 'Mercy Street' announces itself
straightaway as a grand classic of the Balearic movement, this
Mar), kept the most suave, the most melodious, and the most
melancholic side of house music.
In retrospect, and some three years later, one can realise to what
point 'Mercy Street' was as a visionary disc. At the time of it's
coming out in 1997, the down tempo, which is the part that is the
slowest, coolest and most melodic of house, and which was still a
little up in the air and without any consistency, was sustained by
an enlightened few. House music was overplayed on the dancefloors
but still hadn't been integrated into home listening. In these
conditions 'Mercy Street' was a bit like a resonant UFO in a
landscape exhausted by force from the same rhythmic scores.
