I downloaded several of them and they were fine, including the pars,
on Easynews where I posted them. That doesn't mean much except that
they made it to Easynews intact which indicates that I don't have
router or RAM issues here. Long ago I was posting corrupt files which
turned out to be a bad DIMM. They could be getting corrupted on the
way out of Easynews or AstraWeb could be the culprit. Yours is the
only report that I've had with problems but it could be that you are
the only one downloading them.
Maybe someone else (not on Easynews or Astraweb) could download a
couple of them and let us know if they have issues. The only other
thing I can think of is you're using Xnews. The little bit that I've
played with it I've found it to be very buggy but I can't recall which
version I used. I think the author discontinued development long ago.
Are you aware that Xnews may be exposing your identity? Check the Ref
field for XnsA53D5ED6EAC4EBuckyWire@216.151.153.161
I have gigabit internet speed so it would only take 5 minutes to
upload them all again but I don't think that would solve the problem.
Maybe try downloading using the nzb if Xnews supports it. Or try a
different news client.
Did you try the version of Xnews which supports 64-bit addressing? I
really don't think that would apply in this case however since
classic-rock only has about 7 million headers total. I've pulled
headers in groups that have over 700 million headers without any
issues.
By the way, incomplete pars are not unusable but I'm not sure if Xnews
has a way to download/join them as Agent does. I don't know what I
could do on this end to solve the problem. I know it's always easy to
blame the other end for problems but until someone else tells me that
they're having issues with my posts then I'm at a loss as to what
could be the problem on my end. All files are fine at Easynews so
they've left my end uncorrupted. I've not heard of others on Astraweb
having issues either. My first thought was that I'm pushing stuff out
to Easynews too fast but that's obviously not a problem. I could push
data out many times faster but A&A11b only allows 4 concurrent threads
so that limits me. In fact, I've pushed data to ftp sites at 250M/s
with no corruption. My upload speed to Easynews is just 8M/s but, as
I've said, that's due to the thread limit of the posting program.
Well, I've tried to think of everything possible and am open to
suggestions. I hope someone else out there will respond if they've had
issues too. For what it's worth, Easynews is the most reliable NSP
that I've used and I've been through all the major providers at one
time or another.
