DESCRIPTION
==================
Translated from German:
Is not it contradictory to make music that focuses on silence? Is not the sound of the lake, the river, the forest music enough? Is not silence enough music? The answer to these questions is probably YES! Theosophist and spiritual teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti said: "Just because we have lost contact with nature, painting, museums and concerts occupy such an important place." This sentence could eventually lead me to stop my musical work. But that's not all.
For the time being I am interested in the connection between nature and music, the interweaving of natural and synthetic sounds. My music is becoming increasingly intuitive, economical, slower. It develops from the soundtrack to the sound image, from the process to the state. Perhaps Brian Eno's idea of Ambient Music provided the inspiration for the Quiet Places series many years ago.
In the last 20 years, I probably did not spend a day without music: heard, produced, pushed knobs on the mixer, programmed software synthesizers or rather intuitively screwed them around. Always looking for sound, for ear food. The albums presented on this page mark the climax and perhaps the temporary end of a life phase in which I loved the music, but also discovered the silence.
Ever since I reached the middle of life, I increasingly search for places where life sounds less, where it is quieter, quieter and slower. I am glad to have to come out the door to reach these places in a few minutes: district parks, lakes and not least the banks of the Pader, the shortest river in Germany, where I live, are one of them. More recently, I have been accompanied by a digital recording device that captures the natural sounds of the QuietPlaces and continues to process them musically. - Arno Hoeddinghaus ; http://arnohoeddinghaus.de/arno-hoeddinghaus/
