Despite stiff competition, this is probably my very favorite album released by Ultimae. I know that's somewhat unfair because a few of the tracks (including my top two) are older tracks originally released on a different label. Nonetheless, this album as a whole is the perfect introspective chill album. The first time this album REALLY clicked with me I was driving around rural roads in the Northwoods of Minnesota around twilight, right after a fresh snowfall. It just seemed so amazingly suited for that environment and my mood. So now I can't help but envision pine-laden boreal forests covered in white, with deepening shadows all around - one of my happy places. This album has a nice balance of super mellow tracks and more beat-driven ones, and though I greatly enjoy every track, my absolute favorite is "Calm." Again, I realize it's an older track, but it just has such a powerful mood to it, especially in the context of the whole album. I highly recommend this album to chill/psybient fans. Oh - and even though I typically purchase every single Ultimae release, I almost passed this one by because it said "live." I've never been a fan of live stuff because it typically sounds live, with all the extraneous noise, but I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered this album sounds like a regular studio album. You'd never know it was live. It's too bad the continuous mix version doesn't appear to be here. I almost always prefer continuously mixed albums, and this is no exception.
