griffin,
below is a header from a post of yours that i am using to illustrate what a cue file is

(and please correct me if i am ignorant - anyone)

if you click on the cue file, when the flac file is in the same directory
that is: if you double-click on "Synco - 85-89.cue"
while "Synco - 85-89.flac" is in the same directory
you will see the tracklist and be able to split into small files
after splitting the cue file,
the new dir looks like this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Directory of D:\temp\Synco - 85-89

many programs will be able to handle cue files
i happened to have my default association set to:

Medieval CUE Splitter (PC) - v1.2
its freeware and works fine, get it here
http://www.medieval.it/cuesplitter-pc/menu-id-71.html

imageburn is also freeware
it is used for burning the cd, usually from an iso and a cue file
but it seems to work with flac too
http://www.imgburn.com/

hope i didn't answer a question no one asked, and wrongly at that
