Pyramid Peak - Fish'n Love.nfo
GENERAL INFORMATION
=====================
Album: Fish'n Love
Artist: Pyramid Peak
Year: 2001
Genre: New Age / Electronic / Berlin-School
DESCRIPTION
==================
Don't let the cheesy title fool you - this is top-drawer electronic music. Pyramid Peak continues to strengthen with each release. As good as Ocean Drive was, Random Events was considerably better. As excellent as that was, Fish'N Love manages to be a cut above that. Rollicking, polished sequences galore are featured, with great synth solos to boot.
"First Mission" features some NASA Apollo 11 space talk that also appeared on Paul Haslinger's Future Primitive, notable for music trivia buffs.
"Elevation" runs almost seven minutes, but is the shortest track, and feels like sort of a bridge between "First Mission" and "Pulse", which is one of many strong tracks, a slow builder from shadowy atmospheric touches to mid-tempo sequencing that does indeed pulse along.
"Changes" brings up the energy a notch. The music, already good at the beginning, seems to get better as the disc progresses.
"Impressions" is better still, with great synth leads and nice, relaxed rhythm programming.
The title track gets an always-welcome boost from guest Klaus Hoffman-Hoock on guitar, dreamily echoing against an electronic backdrop. His playing reaches a fever pitch toward the end, but is never out of place or over the top.
"Tiefschlaf" is appropriately dreamy, the longest and mellowest piece. It makes a soothing ending to a great disc that is solid from start to finish. - Phil Derby
