Hank Wilson - Post Notes.txt
Hank WIlson's Back was originally released in 1973 on Shelter Records as
SRL-52014; distributed by ABC Records. After MCA acquired ABC Records it
was reissued as MCA-692. The CD release occurred in 1990 as DCC/Shelter
Records as SRZ-8009. The CD release was slightly rearranged from the
original but with 3 bonus tracks (Tracks 13-15. If you look closely at
the cover below 'Hanks' left foot it clearly says Hank Wilson's Back
Vol. 1; though it was never marketed as "Volume 1."
Because the songs were rearranged on the CD the back cover of the LP was
not used as part of the CD cover but I have the LP so I scanned and
included the back cover of the LP. One note; the print registration was
not very good when they added the symbology for musician credits by the
song titles as those symbols are printed under the song titles instead
of at the end of the titles... weird.
Track list:
01 Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms (Lester Flatt)
02 She Thinks I Still Care (Dickey Lee Lipscomb)
03 I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams)
04 I'll Sail My Ship Alone (Mann/Bernard/Burns/Thurston)
05 Jambalya (Hank Williams)
06 A Six Pack To Go (Thomson/Lowe/Hart)
07 The Battle Of New Orleans (Jimmy Driftwood)
08 Uncle Pen (Bill Monroe)
09 Am I That Easy To Forget (C Belew/W Stevenson)
10 Truck Drivin' Man (Terry Fell)
11 The Window Up Above (George Jones)
12 Lost Highway (Leon Payne)
13 Goodnight Irene (Hudie Ledbetter/Alan Lomax)
14 Hey Good Lookin' (Hank Williams)
15 In The Jailhouse Now (Jimmie Rodgers)
In 1984 Leon again assumed the Hank Wilson personnae and recorded Vol. 2
for Paradise Records. As far as I know Vol. 2 was never available as a CD
so this is a vinyl rip. My LP was very clean but I used a minimal amount
of noise reduction and then the clip/pop tool in Adobe Audition to clean
the tracks.
Track list:
01 Wabash Cannonball (Arr Leon Russell & WIllie Nelson)
02 Oh Lonesome Me (Don Gibson)
03 Tennessee Waltz (PeeWee King/Redd Stewart)
04 Heartaches By The Number (Harlan Howard)
05 If You've Got The Money Honey, I Got The Time (Lefty Frizzell/Jim Beck)
06 Tumbling Tumbleweeds (Bob Nolan)
07 I'm Movin' On (Clarence E Snow)
08 Waltz Across Texas (Talmadge Tubb)
09 Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes (Slim Willet)
10 On The Wings Of A Dove (Bob Ferguson)
11 Ill Be There (Ray Price/Rusty Gabbard)
12 I Saw The Light (Hank Williams)
Leon would later record as Hank Wilson in 1998 with Legend in My Time: Hank
Wilson Vol. III and in 2001 with the New Grass Revival: Rhythm & Bluegrass:
Hank Wilson, Vol. 4. In 2009 a Best of Hank Wilson compilation CD was issued.
I don't have these albums so I can't post them; but if someone else does....
