Thanks for that.
As you can see from my subsequent post, I found a solution – Bigasoft Audio
Converter – which I have now used successfully 3-4 times.. And meanwhile
one of my techie pals looked in the files and found a minor error in the cue.
She said this would be ignored by some apps but would upset others. Xact
obviously was one of the latter.
I’ve always avoided using .mp3 files because of their past association with
poor quality. Is it possible to generate .mp3 which have at least “CD
quality” sound, to use a simple shorthand description?
My iTunes plays out through a fairly meaty hifi system with DAC feeding
either big KEFs or Dali Zensors, hence my preference for .aiff or .wav files.
