There are quite a few Asian biker films more so because the motorcycle
plays such an integral role in that region either as a source of
pride, (Japan), or as "the family station wagon". However that said
and with al the racist nuance recognized "all Asian motorcycle movies
look the same to me" and "after I watch an Asian motorcycle movie half
an hour later I am hungry to watch another."
In reality I don't think "The Biker" translates to Asia anymore than
in our western hubris we believe we understand the Samurai, (yes
Quentin Tarantino I mean you). I expect this is because in North
America the function of the motorcycle being is intrinsically linked
to the Biker himself as the particular sniper rifle is the choice of
the assassin or a specific knife is the preferred slice and dicer for
a serial killer. The North American motorcycle is loud and omni
present; there is no stealth, (ie: in Sons of Anarchy how can the
police not know exactly where the gang is merely by following the
noise), whereas in Asia a group of bikes driving at large is not only
a regular occurrence the post 1960's normal.
That said since this posting block has included the Euro biker scene
via Mad Foxes or Marianne Faithful's Girl On A Motorcycle, it only
seems fair to provide the alternative view that denotes about two
billion of the earth's inhabitants.
Of all the Asian biker films I have come across Virgins From Hell
seems to capture it all; sleaze, kung-fu, and a storyline that will
make most Westerners say "what the fuck?"
