After that horrid experience with the Mad Foxes it is time to hop on
the next Braniff direct flight back to the US. The absurdity of the
Mad Foxes was beyond compare so now we move to a more historically
accurate depiction of the Biker genre.
As such we consider She Devils on Wheels. A female biker gang named
The Maneaters. It is a failure of omission that the role of the all
girl biker gangs has been all but forgotten. During the late 60's
these estrogen driven biker wenches rolled up and down middle America
extending west to California in an effort to... okay even I can't keep
up this shit.
There are only a few true all girl biker films out there and near as I
can tell the first 'pseudo official' female biker gang was installed
in the mid 1990s as an off-shoot from what can only be described as a
benign biker gang that was for all intents and purposes had ceased all
efforts that make a biker gang. Even then this gang refused to
formally accept the women, (who were for the most part wives/girl
friends of the gang), and cautioned them about instituing a patching
system. Naturally no male rider would be caught dead riding with this
gang.
The role of the female in the biker films is somewhat interesting in
that quite often they are depicted as having a fair bit of power and
influence in the gang. The reality is that they probably have all
sorts of power in some circumstances but NEVER in a public forum,
(consider the role of Gemma from Sons of Anarchy; to some extent she
actually runs aspects of the MC but it is never formally
acknowledged).
All that to say this film is probably as fact based as Mad Foxes. ;)
