By 1975 the Blaxploitation movement was beginning to wane. While one
can argue that the genre never actually dies its major impact runs
1970-1977. By 1975 it is becoming clear to the studios that the
audiences are expecting more and with the release of Star Wars in 1977
a new era of science fiction and more importantly the "Blockbuster" is
born and becomes the new norm.
To that end Take A Hard Ride attempts to mix two genres with
Blaxploitation and the Western. The cast is pretty diverse in terms
of both Blaxploitation and Western standards. For Jim Brown and Fred
Williamson this would be their final true Blaxplotation film.
