Not sure if you got my last reply - still bad - requesting repost...
Got MultPar version 1.2.6.9 - unzipped the zipped version - It did the
same as quickpar, showed 11 & 13 one block short and reported "Failed
to repair" when attempting to fix... Both MultiPar and QuickPar do
the same thing...
I normally only download 7 par blocks by default, but in this case
pulled them all (304 blocks). Then tried deleting part 11 and then
just part 13 to see if one of those files had something in them that
was causing the failure. No Luck - same results. Then tried to
delete the 65k "Just .par2 file (no volxxx-xxx) in filename" and
still got the same results.
Finally copied all downloaded files to old XP machine (vs I7-980X) and
still got the verify failed message.
Also tried downloading all files again from my backup server
(different major provider) with exactly the same results.
Since both par programs and two computers tell me there's 304 repair
blocks and only 2 damaged, If you decide to resend, please rerar with
slightly different paramaters and create new par files. I haven't had
any trouble with any of your other files so far and have seen the
"verify failed" message once about 4 years ago. Web research tends to
point to memory problems, but find it difficult to believe two
computers work for everything else except this rar set.
My personal belief is that it's a "position of the sun, moon, and
stars" situation with the par2 algorithm and the rared files.
Thanks for the reply and the posts.
p.s. Might try a recovery record in the rar set also just in case...
