At the Ft. Riley Kansas museum they had several of the half-track mounted
quad-50s at one time, we were there when they were taken out of service
and moved to the museum. the ones we had in the 1960s were all mounted
on 2 1/2 guntrucks.. they could sure light up the night
7.62 mini-guns have replaced them
FWIW: my Dad served in the 101st and I was fortunate to have served my
whole time of service after basic with the 101st airborne as well..
and keeping on the jeep topic, my parents first "car" was a surplus jeep
in 1946.
