At the Ft. Riley Kansas museum they had several of the half-track mounted
quad-50s at one time,  we were there when they were taken out of service
and moved to the museum.   the ones we had in the 1960s were all mounted
on 2 1/2 guntrucks..  they could sure light up the night
7.62 mini-guns have replaced them

FWIW:  my Dad served in the 101st and I was fortunate to have served my
whole time of service after basic with the 101st airborne as well..

 and keeping on the jeep topic, my parents first "car" was a surplus jeep
in 1946.
