This artillery battery observation post has obviously been co-located
in an infantry trench. Observation posts were not normally so crowded.
A Feldfernsprecher 33 in its Bakelite case can be seen to the right of
the Sf.14Z Scherenfernrohr. It appears that an assault is being
launched as a column of assault guns advance. In the original
photograph there appears to be faint puffs of smoke on the distant
treeline.
