Troops of the 2nd Panzer Division move forward across the hot, dry
flat steppes. Animal draught has been utilised to tow supplies. On the
rear of the single axle trailer some hay is stowed and used as horse
feed. Altogether General Paulus's 6th Army contained some 25,000
horses, most of which were used to carry and tow vital supplies to
Stalingrad
