I agree that some of the images vere not on Laffey for the reasons
mentioned - that is most of them. The 5" 38 does indeed use seperate shell
and cartridge. The shell alone weighs around 27 kilo or 54 pounds.
I have been in a working turret just like Laffeys.

Errm...
Quite a lot of that video wasn't from LAFFEY. There were sections
showing the shell and the propellant being loaded separately. 5" 38s
used cased rounds, with the shell and the propellant in one unit. There
was a section showing what I'm pretty sure was a kamikaze strike on
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, and another showing a torpedo attack on (I think,
I'm not sure) HORNET. There were also brief sections showing triple
turrets; that'd be from dreadnoughts or cruisers, not a destroyer. And
at least one of the sections showing 40-mm quad positions _had_ to have
been filmed on a dreadnought, possibly WASHINGTON, I can't tell for
sure, not enough of the ship is in view.
