Brest-Litowsk became the watchword of this new campaign. The obsolete
Russian fortress should already have fallen on the first day of the
war. The Soviet troops defended themselves against expectations "up to
the last cartridge" and proved to the German soldiers, that this war
no new "flower"campaign. The attacking focus of this German infantry
regiment has become the Citadel , here we see a photo of part of the
murderous fighting for this objective.
