You are completely correct of course, and I also despair when people
scan interesting photos at crap resolution.
But then, that's the lousy advice "scanning experts" used to give.
Took me a while as well to realize they were talking garbage.
However.... we have what we have. These photos are still of great
interest and significance, and I'm grateful for that work and the
sharing of it.
