Once I hooked, what we all thought at the time, a water
moccasin too while fishing in a farm pond. (I was told later on that
there aren't any wm's in this State) He was maybe 2 1/2 feet long and
probably at least 3" around. What he WAS was fucking Vicious. Big,
thick, strong snake and he was what seemed like a dark green solid
color. I couldn't tell by his eyes. Couldn't...well, wouldn't dream
of trying to get that close to him. Luckily, he was still on my rod
when I pulled him out of the water. He was hooked in the middle of
his body.
Maybe I should say "assisted" him out of the water. He had
that arrowhead shaped head like a poisonous snake does. Anyway, this
fucking thing came after me! If he hadn't of been hooked he probably
would have gotten me too. I promptly dropped the gear and ran like
Hell. My cousin was on the other side of the pond and she was so
scared she ran with me. LOL
We came back a little later and he'd gotten loose somehow. I
was glad I got my pole back safely. He'd dragged the whole kit over
to a fence line. Fishing: DONE. I don't think we went back for a
long while after that. My biology teacher said it could have been a
rattlesnake. I just don't know, he didn't have rattles...but if a
person had been swimming out there with that thing??? Yikes!
"Jaws" ruined my ass for swimming in the ocean too. I've had
enough "ocean" anyway.
