Children are quite resilient in the face of change, and do not cling
to silly political and social fracases as do the so-called mature
adults. I followed his adventures with interest some years ago, and I
have little doubt he has fond memories of living with his relatives in
Florida, but concomitantly, I also have few doubts that he is happy
with his father, with whom he belongs irrespective of anyone's
particular philosophical imperatives, in Cuba, even given his amazing
celebrity status has passed.
It did surprise me to discover to what lengths people will sacrifice
the most basic parental-child rights in order to make a political
point. Such is the way of the world, I suppose, sadly.
