Yes, it is sad how he was treated by it was not by the government.
When the INS placed him they selected a Cuban community which they thought
would be best as it would be a culture familiar to the lad. Unfortunately
that community rejected rational family values and interjected their own
political agenda rather than return the lad to his father.
Certainly, it would not be surprising that he harbors resentment against
the US nor that he joined the dominant party in his homeland like many
other youths in many cultures.
What I am certain of is that if any other children need placement by the
INS, they will not go to a familiar community to prevent a reoccurrence of
such disrespect for promises and the law for that is the prudent course for
the INS officer interested in continuing a career. How very sad.
