All is normal here on my Supernews server. Their retention on this group is many
months. So the problem is likely with the NSP server you are trying to retrieve
posts from.

Usenet groups are not stored in a central place which could go bad, but peer-to-
peer propagated by NNTP between zillions of servers. A post travels from the
server of the poster, through X peers, to the server from which you retrieve it.
Your problem sounds like this last server is the issue.
Each server is more or less well setup, hence has a more or less good completion
rate, and each has a chosen post retention duration. (which needs petabytes of
storage per day, so costs them $$$)

You should try downloading the group from an established NSP supplier other than
Giganews. Most have 30 days free trials. Supernews does, ForteInc does, many
others do.

If things work well with that NSP, then you'll know the fault is either Giganews
or your local ISP's cache. You can then either switch suppliers or ask their
customer service to fix it (if you have enough time and patience...)
