Unfortunate but not surprising. The utility companies have such a
large footprint everywhere that they are at tremendous risk of
accident. When conditions are like this, a hot catalytic converter
can start a brush fire that can devastate thousands of acres.
We have lived through more than a few really large fires in our
immediate area, they are no fun. As the wild fires continue to
increase in frequency and severity, I can see the insurance companies
canceling policies and or selling specific wildfire insurance, kind of
like earthquake and flood insurance.
