There was no kind of safety strap or harness utilized for the pilot of
the 1903 Flyer, at least as far as I could ascertain.
Considering the brothers experience with their glider, I am a little
surprised they didn't employ some kind of safety harness. On the
other hand, they didn't wear any kind of helmet and look at how many
decades it took for seatbelts to come into common use in automobiles.
If they were at all concerned with safety, they probably wouldn't be
flying in this death trap in the first place. I love pioneers.
