After his first tour ended in November 1944, my father was assigned as
an instructor at Luke AF. After 3 months it drove him crazy, and he
returned to his combat unit, 9th FS, 49 FG for a second tour. He
returned to Linguyen in the Philipines, and stayed through Okinawa to
the surrender and occupation in Japan. He will be 95 tomorrow.
