Early experiments with parachutes. For
pilots, it seems, no combat gear. Very late
in WWI Germany started issuing parachutes
to pilots, the British foolishly never did.
In fact the best personal narrative about
flying in the RFC is No Parachute, by Arthur
Gould Lee.
