Actually that flight was closer to 10 hrs 40 min.
BTW: The other leg of that trip was AMS to CPT (Cape Town) 6,026 miles
(9698 km) and return in a KLM 777 that was an 11 hr 55 min flight each
way. I don't know what accounts for the flight time discrepancy between
the 777 on the shorter AMS-CPT route and the 787-9 on the longer
AMS-SFO route. Perhaps wind conditions, or aircraft performance, or a
combination of both.
