This is the 1st "Vieux Charles", the original SPAD flown by Georges Guynemer,
the ace with 54 victories.
Although Guynemer later flew a Spad S.XIII, this original Vieux Charles No S.254
is a Spad S.VII. It is now preserved at the Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace near
Paris.
