At one time in my life I lived in Oneida County, NY, near the point
B-52s were on their final approach to Griffiss AFB outside Rome, NY. It
was home to the SAC 416th Bombardment Wing , and 41st Air Refueling
Squadron. From about 15:30 to 17:00 everyday, a parade of "Buffs" with
gear down would pass directly overhead at 3,000-1,500 ft. There was no
hiding the noise of those coming in at 45 to 90 second intervals.
