well it took a while - but i figured it out -
these are two different films
same cast (obviously) but many of the scenes are shot differently -
Mansfield's first musical numner (at the 44 minute mark) is truncated
in the color version - (so I inserted the two miuntes of missing
footage from the black and white). - then the following scene is
almost the same in both versions - but the costumes are different (a
good deal more revealing in the color version) - following this - in
the color version - it returns to the last few second of the truncated
musical number then goes to a different scene.
this is going to take more than a day or two - and I'll end up with
some B&W footage. I'm torn between using the black and white fottage
of the similar scenes (because the sync will be right) - or using the
better (more revealing) color footage, even though the sound can't
sync -
of course, if this the biggest problem I encounter in life - I
shouldn't complain
thanks again
Bill
