Easynews is also (usually) fine. And it has better retention than both
Giga (2,367 days) and Astra (3,000 days): 3,573 days. $9.95/month is okay
for me. And no, it isn't web based. You can get standard Usenet access
(Easynews Unlimited NNTP it's called), like I use. I say "usually"
because when things have been taken down this is what happens. Seems the
folder where it was stored still exists, but it's empty due to the take
down, so a reference is still showing up.
Altopia is really good in terms of reliability, but they have lousy
retention. (15 days or so, for larger files). I've tried them all. There
are a few newcomers in EU I haven't tried, mainly in NL and such, which
allegedly are also very good. But most don't list retention numbers and
that's vital. At least for me.
