I have been trying to identify a movie my aunt took me to in about 1941 or
1942. It was at our towns "B" movie theater.
It was a scary comedy and as I remember it took place in a house
or mansion on a hill.
I believe it was not haunted but people were trying to make it appear
haunted.
It would be perfect for A&C, the Bowery Boys or another of those comedy
teams of that era.
The part that disqualifies every movie I have chased down is that there
was this cable that took you over or up to the mountain.
They rode in something like a ski lift.
I think maybe it was scary in that there was temporary mishap on this ride.
For some reason that part sticks most in my mind.
I was five or six at the time so my memories could be playing tricks on me
but I really believe the cable part.
I saw Captain of the Clouds at about the same time and that is my earliest
identifiable film.
My early movies started me on a life as a big movie fan and I have not let
up after all these years.
I sure wish I could figure out the title of this old movie experience.
