Hi olddog! I'm glad you enjoyed some of the movies I posted. Unfortunately,
the answer to your question is No.
There is no official list. The "list" is my own. It changes. It's so
disorganized it would be embarrasing if I shared it, and I do not have the
time to make it presentable.
Some really good lists can be found at IMDb. They post "User Lists." Also,
you can search "Popular Movies by Genre"
(https://www.imdb.com/feature/genre?ref_=fn_asr_ge). Ths War genre contains
8,483 titles. I'm sure these lists are just as good, if not better, than
mine, and they're organized.
I can't post many of the movies on my "list" here because they aren't
topical. For example, I couldn't post my #2 favorite Comedy: "The Time Of
Their Lives" (1946) with Abbott and Costello. Might I post some of those
movies in another group? That's a decision for the distant future. Right now
I'm working on the 1960s decade in the post-1960 NG.
Also, I don't want to post a movie that has been posted relatively recently.
For example, I was thinking of posting Hitchcock's "The Birds." It's my #6
favorite in the Sci Fi category, and highest-rated Sci Fi movie in the 1960s
decade. But it was posted in April 2016. (Thanks Scotty!) I'd rather wait at
least 5 years since a movie was posted, here or in the vintage-film NG,
before posting it again.
I have a busy life. I can't post movies regularly like some of the great
posters do. Sometimes I don't even have the time to visit the NGs for a
while. I have been able to post a few movies in April. I was also able to
post a few movies over a 10-day period in Jan-Feb. I'll be able to post a
couple more in April, but then I will be away for a month or so.
I simply don't have the time to post a lot. But I will try to post the best
of what I have that is topical and hasn't been posted for at least 5 years.
In the meantime, if you haven't already done so, please check out the 1961
version of "The Parent Trap" with Hayley Mills. I posted it in late Jan, and
though I didn't label it as such, it's my #1 favorite Comedy. Also please
check out the 1968 movie "Where Eagles Dare" with Richard Burton and Clint
Eastwood. I posted it in early Feb, and it's my #1 favorite War-Military
movie.
There's a lot of great stuff posted at this NG. My suggestion is to browse
the lists at IMDb, and then you'll know what to request. In late December I
had requested five movies. **PCZ** came through 100 percent.
