I used HJ Split to join the files, however, the resulting file could not
be rendered/played by Windows Media Player/Classic Media
Player/iTunes/VLC/Quicktime or any othe video rendering files I have
laying around.

You make a good point about using Quickpar for splitting and combining
files. If folks are going to use it to generate a par set, then they
should use it to split the files - that makes it much easier to combine
at the other end!
