Babylon 5 "Remaster" Project (1920x1080p)
These are being developed to play on a PC based higher-endish home theatre system.
**Note: No Audio in these samples.
A few sample encodes to look at for those who care. I am still tweaking the overall look a bit, and it will change slightly from the clips included.
Haven't started to play with the audio yet; I may change it to DTS5.1, or just copy over the existing 5.1 and 2.0 tracks.
All are 5 minutes in length, and of the same clip from Babylon 5 Season 1 Episode 1.
Included test renders:
Babylon5_x264_10bit_bt709_420.mkv
Babylon5_x264_10bit_bt709_422.mkv
Babylon5_x264_10bit_bt2020_422.mkv
Babylon5_x264_10bit_bt2020_444.mkv
This one (bt2020_444) is easily my favorite! And will probably be using this "mode" for all final encodes. The black levels are incredible on my giant TV. The first appearence of the B5 station is beautiful.
Those without UHDTV's will still have a great picture, but there may be a bit to much black - I have heard there are those that prefer faded, washed out blacks over "black" black. ;) Using a good media player, you can scale down the colours if need be.
x265 encodes not included as I won't be doing the final encodes in this format.
Played on:
Media Player Classic - recommended for playing anything, with EVR enabled or with MadVR installed.
VLC 3.0 Beta - Plays them. They don't look to bad, but still doesn't look near as good as MPC-HC.
Enjoy!
