I have limited knowledge of Macs, however I believe I know software pretty well and if the cracked version works for like 15 minutes and then stops, it is more likely than not that the program is calling home and finding itself an unauthorized copy, quits.
A general workaround is as follows:
1. Use a program like little snitch and block unison’s access to any IP except that of your usenet server
or failing that, use the line command “netstat” to find out where it is connecting to. Or if you prefer a GUI tool then you use the network utility app located here: /Applications/Utilities/Network\ Utility.app
You can find a tutorial here.
<http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/index_files/how-to-use-network-utility.php>
2. Disable your Network card or pull the network cable out.
3. Install the program
4. Add the text below to the bottom of your hosts file. (/private/etc/hosts /et/hosts)
# Unison Blocker
127.0.0.1 (the IPs you derived from netstat)
127.0.0.1 (the IPs you derived from netstat)
5. Re-enable you Network card and run.
if you can’t edit the host-file, copy it to your documents-folder, edit it and copy it back to the "etc"-folder. so you can work around privilegues (rwx)...
These are the serials I found for various versions of Unision. Hope it helps.
Unison 2.1.1 5TO9LB7502GA8BWB6H08
Unison 1.8 serial 0122-2260-2701-0009
Unison 1.7.4.1 5701-0414-5201-6022 Serial for Unison version 1.7.2b2.3 fully activates version 1.7.4.1
Unison 1.7.3 S/N: 4107-0277-0919-1729 I just took a serial for 1.7.1 and changed 0909 to 0919. Maybe other (similar) changes will work too. or S/N:
5701-0414-5201-6022
5608-0282-0207-4220
8508-0863-2100-6002
5701-0414-5201-6022
3506-7496-7104-3146
3900-0225-4003-2755
Unison 1.7.1 S/N: 4107-0277-0909-1729
or S/N: 4107-0277-0909-1729
Unison 1.6.1 S/N: 5608-0282-0207-4220
Unison 1.6.2 S/N: 8508-0863-2100-6002
or S/N: 8508-0863-2100-6002
As I have not been following the thread for only a few days, and perhaps it subject has come up before, didn’t this util’s authors do an un-serialed v2.2 and then abandon the project?
You can find all the versions (uncracked) from the author’s site, here from their File Museum.

It seems also that Unison is quite an unstable app and the above advice is for naught. In that case sorry and good luck.
