Hi Foz,
I'm wondering what reader you're using, and whether you're PC or Mac?
I just downloaded a half dozen epub titles and had no problem opening
them. I'm on PC and using SumatraPDF, which seems to have no problem.
That said, I used to use (and often still use) the STDU Reader, which
did have a problem with some epub files. I"m guessing there is,
perhaps, a newer codec being used for some epub files which is causing
them not to open in some reader apps?
I think SumatraPDF is only for PC at the moment, but you may want to
try it, as I've had no problem opening any epub I've tried so far,
including Bisto's (the ones I've downloaded, anyway)
Also note that Sumatra can display an epub in one of two appearances.
One looks like a traditional book-like appearance; the other more like
a standard PDF appearance. There is a field in the applications
(text-based) options file that can be re-set to one or the other. Use
the Advanced Options feature, and change the field "UseFixedPageUI =
true" to "false", depending on the display you want.
If you're on Mac I can't make any suggestions, but see whether the
freebie SumatraPDF application for Windows helps.
