I always use strict anamorphic, that gives the largest possible
resolution.

Detelecine for NTSC film, decomb for NTSC video(TV) or PAL.

For average bit rate mode the same formula:
Size in kbits/time in seconds
so
1500000*8/(90x60)=2222 kbps total
less the audio bitrate (you can find the audio bitrate with mediainfo)
probably about 2000.

However, I wouldn't do that.
I use constant quality mode crf=20. If the file is too big , I would
increase the crf by 1 and redo until it is small enough.

I use the very slow x264 preset which gives maximum compression and the
film tune for films.

High profile, level 3.0

The handbrake domumentation is pretty good

That's great Pat....

although I must admit "film tune" is a new one on me....

R U running Xeon's.... lol  I've lost too much hair having to redo the same movie more than three
times... and eventually giving up.

I have got a few tv progs recorded onto an LG HD recorder that has a built in dvd writer, I need
to pull them off onto R/W media and get to work on them.
Hate having to work on pvr stuff... playback from the LG and you get 16:9, As it was originally
shown, rip it and you get 4:3... CloneDVD does a fair job of ripping them of the R/W media but
insists on repairing the vobs... Gotta be an easier way.
