If my understanding of the back cover Notes is correct, this post of a 1961 recording would really be a Rarity: the very first recording by the choir of Christ Church Cathedral.
I can imagine that some persons might want to download it.
I think that considering this is a mono recording going back nearly fifty years the condition would be seen as relatively good.
The Victoria mass on Side One has subsequently been recorded by the CCC choir in 1993 on a Nimbus CD. I find it interesting that,to my ears at least, the sound of the choir has changed (for the better, I think) over the years.
I also notice that for some parts following what seems to be the (Anglican?) custom, the choir uses men altos (alti?), both in this LP and in the 1993 CD.
By coincidence I have in my "archival" recordings versions of this mass sung by the PCMR at about the same time the LP was recorded.
These were taped over the air from broadcasts of the Sunday mass.
I thought it would be interesting to listen and compare, as the PCMR used boy altos.
I picked the Sanctus because the Benedictus part provides a good illustration.
Of course the PCMR don't go as far back as the CCC choir (the choir was about six years old at that time), and the recording is so-so, as it was taped to an open reel tape, subsequently transfered to conventional tape and finally ripped to a CD.
It would be nice to read any comments from more qualified people.
