Since I have not awakened "nene's dark side," I guess you are not an
organist! ;)
Anyway, just tell your friend he ought to reduce the recording level he
uses. I'm including two spectogram sections as illustrations -- you
don't have to understand the science, you just have to look at them to
get the idea.
"Organ1" is from a snowy rip of an organ solo. "Organ2" is from one of
your friend's rips. The flat tops and bottoms show that information is
missing, and that crackling and wheezing will be heard.
If you can tell me exactly what software your friend uses to rip his
LPs, I'll try to figure out how to make the necessary adjustments, and
you can send them along to your friend.
