About the Jankowitsch twins.txt
The three songs on the EP posted by nene are included in a larger sized recording, the front cover of which I have scanned.
The top of the cover that didn't fit in and is missing from the scan only says:
I thought it could be interesting since I always assumed that the boys in the photo were from the group that made the recording and one the boys would probably be one of the twins!
I can see that the two boys on the cover you posted would hardly pass as twins :-)
That photo is also of interest to me as I think the group seems to listen to a tape (I would guess from that recording).
The recorder looks a lot like one I had at that time (a Philips of course!) with the kind of open reel tapes. I think those I had were 7" (18cm).
The machine weighed a ton and it must have been very hard for anyone to smuggle one at a concert to make a pirate recording. At least the person would have had to purchase an extra ticket to seat the machine.
By the way this LP has been posted in the past, and when I googled "salve regina schubert" I came across several places where this LP is shown.
I don't remember but according to what I can see on the back cover I found this recording in Italy (!) in 1956.
It seems I paid 3810 Liras, whatever that was.
I'll have some questions for the real; musical people about the Salve Regina that I'll post as soon as I can formulate them without too much awkwardness.
